The oil seed types of sunflowers are usually grown as commercial crops and would be purchased through a farm supply situation. In general, the sunflower seeds offered for retail sale are the striped varieties which are grown for birdseed and for human consumption, as well for cut flowers. A very nice variety with extra-large striped seeds is the SuperSnack Hybrid. It (and many others) is available through Burpee. You may order a catalog at the website http://burpee.com/ or call 1-800-888-1447 Mon.- Fri. 9 am - 8 pm ET, Sat. & Sun. 9 am - 5 pm ET. Enjoy!
