Mushroom soil is an excellent bulk source of organic matter for improving the soil in any type of garden. Gardeners who live in an area where it is available at reasonable cost frequently use it with good results. As with any program of soil amendments, you may also wish to perform some basic soil tests to verify the qualities of your particular garden soil and any particular deficiences or imbalances it may have. Your County Extension (tel. 489-4315) can help you with the tests and with interpreting the results.
