I am on a landscaping committee for our homeowners association. We are having to replace plants that are diseased, and others that have died from lack of adequate water. I would like to use indigenous species, but don't really know where to find out which plants are well suited to our local climate. Can you help? |
An excellent resource for you and your committee is one of the following local societies. They can supply you with written material and suggestions for plants that will thrive in your local landscapes. A visit to your local library might also be helpful. Here are the contacts: California native Plant Society, 1722 J St. Suite 17, Sacramento 95814 (phone 916-447-2677), Regional Parks Botanic Garden, Tilden Regional Park, Berkely 94708 (phone 510-841-8732), or Southern California Botanists, Dept. of Biology, Fullerton State University, Fullerton 92634. |
