The Q&A Archives: Autumn Crocus

Question: I am trying to find the name and where I can purchase a bulb that is presently blooming here in Vermont (late Sept.). It is like a large, purple crocus and the person who had them called them "autumn crocus". Do you know what the proper name for these are and do you have them or know where I can purchase some?

Answer: Autumn Crocus is 'Colchicum', and is available through Van Bourgondien, Box 1000, 245 Farmingdale Rd., Rt. 109, Babylon, NY 11702-0598, or at most nurseries.
