My grandmother has a trumpet vine that is quite old. This year it has produced what look like seed pods. They are long and skinny, like large beans. Can these be planted? Are there special things to do, like freeze them first, or abrade them for sprouting?

You can certainly plant them. You will find seeds inside the pods. They seem to germinate best after 2 months of cold treatment or else planted outside in the fall where you would like the vine to grow. Good luck with your trumpet vine!
