| My ficus (I think it is a ficus) tree is located in the sun room and this year it is loosing its leaves. It has never done this before. It was fine until recently. Last year I kept it in the house away from the weather. We built a sun room and the room is kept open to the outside weather. Please let me know if you can help. |
| Ficus can be extremely sensitive to drafts, and to direct sunlight. Ficus gets along well in low-light situations so your new sunroom might have overwhelmed it, or perhaps your plant was chilled or overheated during the course of the season while residing the the new room. If the plant was otherwise healthy, new leaves should sprout where the old one fell off, once the plant becomes acclimated to its new surroundings. You can help your plant recover by keeping it out of drafts and direct sunlight, and by withholding fertilizer until it perks up. Water after the soil begins to dry out on top, and when you water be sure to flood the soil so water drips from the drainage holes. Good luck! |
