The Q&A Archives: Finding Cold-stressed Bulbs

Question: Are there bulb farms where I can obtain cold-stressed crocus, daffodil and tulip bulbs suitable for planting now (mid-January) in order to obtain blossoming plants this spring? Bob Hackman Seattle, WA

Answer: Unfortunately, most spring flowering bulbs are dug in late summer for shipment in fall. There may be a company that has some bulbs leftover, but unless they received a cold treatment, then they won't grow and flower well this spring. You can contact the following company in your area and see if they have any leads, Peaceful Valley Farm Supply P.O. Box 2209 Grass Valley, CA 95445 916-272-4769.
