The Q&A Archives: Shade-loving Plants

Question: I would like to know what kinds of vines will grow in the shade. I have a garden that is mostly shade and I would like to know about other plants that do well in the shade. Thanks.

Answer: Some vines that grow well in the shade are Dutchman's Pipe, Clematis montana, Hedera (ivy), Hydrangea petiolaris. Other plants that do well in shade are, hosta, astilbe, primula, azalea, rhododendron and dicentra to name a few. Some plants will tolerate shade, but not flower as well as if they were in part sun..
