Magnesium sulphate, or Epsom salts, can help flush harmful salts through the soil, intensify flower color, and increase the production of new flowering canes. Rather than putting it in the planting hole, wait until spring and apply about 1/2 cup per plant to the soil, and water it in well. Repeat once a month throughout the growing season.
