Raspberries are classified with brambles, but they can be kept neat and orderly with proper pruning. The canes, depending upon cultivar, rarely reach more than 6-8 feet tall. After fruiting the canes are cut down and new ones will grow from the crown of the plant. You can use a container that's 18-24 inches deep, to accommodate the root mass of the plant, and to allow enough room for new shoots to develop. Make sure the soil you use is rich and well-draining, put the pot in a sunny site, supply plenty of water during the growing season, and your raspberries should thrive.
