I have been covering the drainage holes in flower pots with a single layer of coffee filters. Is there any reason that this is not a good idea?

Coffee filters in the bottom of pots are a great idea! They're porous enough to let water through, but they hold the soil in and keep crawling insects out. They last for several seasons and are biodegradeable, too. What an easy solution to multiple problems!
