I am doing a project for school and it involves planting poppy seeds and watching them grow for 20 days. I was wondering how long it takes for a poppy seed to germinate? It is an Oriental type poppy. Thank you. |
Poppy seeds (Papaver) will take from 10-30 days to germinate at 55F degrees. Plant your seeds in moistened seed-starting mix and just barely cover them with a sprinkling of dry mix. Then cover the pot or tray with plastic wrap to help hold in the moisture. Put the tray on a level surface in a cool room. Watch carefully and when most of the seeds have sprouted, remove the plastic wrap. Then put the seedlings under a source of bright light and watch them grow! |
