The Q&A Archives: Growing in San Fernando Valley

Question: Here in San Fernando Valley, California, will I have any luck trying to grow asparagus, peanuts, potatoes, and/or rhubarb?

Answer: Potatoes are a great fall-winter-spring crop for you. Peanuts need a very light, sandy, fluffy soil, otherwise they'll accept your climate. Asparagus and rhubarb are iffy at best and are not recommended.
