Answer: Nothing beats annuals for color all season long, especially in August! For a good show of color, mass your planting. By that I mean, plant at least five or more together in a staggered pattern-not in rows. I like to group at least 10-15 together for a real eye-popping show! The old favorites...marigolds, zinnias, geraniums, salvias and petunias are great. Remember, though, that you have to keep removing the spent flowers to encourage annuals to keep blooming all summer long. If you like being in your garden, then that's great! Annuals come in all colors of the rainbow....have fun!
