I live in USDA zone9, Sunset zone 21 or 22, and wonder do I need to lift tuberous begonia for winter? or just let them stay out in soil? |
Tuberous begonias need a rest period before putting on another show. Wait until the leaves and stems wither and die, then dig the tuber, allow to dry in the sun for three days, then store in a cool, dark location over the winter months. In the springtime new little buds will appear on the tuber, which is your signal to plant the tuber so it can begin to grow and develop new stems, leaves and flowers. |
