The Q&A Archives: How to Nurse a Recently Transplanted Rose

Question: I moved one of my grandmother's roses to our new home, but it has suffered some shock from the move the extremely cold temperatures this winter. It seems to be alive (stems are still green) but hasn't leafed out yet. I've given it some rosefertilizer we've had lots of rain. (My new roses are full bushy.) How can I save this rose?

Answer: If the branches are still firm and green , you may still see some growth to come. Go easy on the watering and completely cut out the fertilizing until you see plenty of strong growth.
