Could you tell me the scientific name and plant family of the three leafed clover? It would also be helpful if you could tell me about the distribution and life cycle of these plants.

Trifolium is the botanical name of clover. (It's in the Leguminosae family, Fabaceae sub-family.) According to the book Hortus III, there are about 300 subspecies, widely distributed in the temperate and subtropical regions of the world. Most species are perennial, one is annual, and all are used as forage and cover-crop plants, as well as ornamental plants. Hope this information helps!
