| We have added to our lily garden a bit at a time without proper planning. Now we would like to move some bulbs. When is the best time and how does one go about it? Some say replant and others dig and store for the season. But in Oklahoma it can get 70 degrees in the winter so it would not be good to store them in the shed----I don't think. So what is best? |
| Lilies are some of the easiest plants to grow, and you can dig them at any time of the year, even when they're in bloom. I'd dig them up and protect the roots from sun and wind while preparing the bed for replanting. Work in some organic matter to help retain moisture and loosen the soil, replant the lilies, and then mulch the area to help suppress weeds. Make sure to water the area well after planting to help settle the bulbs and eliminate any air pockets around the roots. |
