There are many different types of hybrid tomatoes. Indeterminate vining tomatoes will continue to grow until the plant is exhausted or the growing season ends. When grown in greenhouses tomatoes can grow over twenty feet long. However, under normal garden conditions, most gardeners find a four or five foot tall stake to be sufficient to support their tomato plants. Some hybrid tomatoes are bred to stay smaller and/or bushier, too. In any case, the ultimate size of the plant will depend on the growing conditions so there will always be variations in size between plants of any given hybrid variety.
