I want to grow additional plants from Christmas cactus.

These plants are not difficult to propagate by tip cuttings so you are in luck. Break off some sections so you have pieces about four inches long. Let them dry overnight to callus over the break, then set the pieces upright into moistened sand, broken end down. If possible, use a tall sided clear container so that you can cover the top with clear plastic wrap to maintain humidity and avoid the need for watering. If there is excessive condensation, remove the cover for a bit to allow the extra moisture to escape. Keep the planter in a warm spot in indirect but bright light and check periodically for rooting.
