The Q&A Archives: Castor Bean

Question: Is the Castor Bean Plant available from seeds? I was told it has beautiful flowers.

Answer: Seeds of the Castor Bean plant (Ricinus communis) are available from Pinetree Seeds, Box 300, New Glucester, ME 04260 (Phone 207-926-3400). The plants grow 6-10 feet tall in a single season, produce an abundance of small almost insignificant flowers, followed by attractive (but poisonous) seed capsules with prickly husks.
