The Q&A Archives: Planting Tulip Bulbs in the Spring (NY)

Question: I was unable to plant all my tulip bulbs in the fall and have quite a few left over. They have been in th garage all winter and are still firm. What will happen if I plant them now? I live on Long Island, NY. April Vincent Locust Valley, NY

Answer: What a great name for a spring bulb gardener!! Yes immediately, (or as soon as the ground thaws) plants your bulbs. They may not flower this first year, but let the foliage grow and die back naturally and they may come back next year to flower. Happy gardening!!
