We are looking for an old fashion grape scented bearded iris. Approximately 36 inches high, light purple flowers with darker veins and strong grape juice scent. Originally from Grandma's garden imported we think from Israel. Anything available like this?

Any number of the older German bearded Iris varieties smell like grapes, some more strongly than others.  Since purple is one of the most popular iris colors, it would be very difficult to tell you precisely which one your grandmother had based on your description alone. However you are fortunate in that a number of iris lovers who treasure the older varieties have banded together and formed the Historic Iris Preservation Society. They should be able to help you in locating  it or finding a close substitute for it through their extensive web site at http://www.worldiris.com/   or write to them at 12219 Zilles Road, Blackstone, VA 23824.  Good luck with your search!
