Answer: I would think it will be a challenge to grow California poppies in Florida because of the humidity and heat. If you want to try, plant them now in a well-drained sandy soil and perhaps give them a bit of shade in the afternoon. Try to keep them on the dry side and with some luck, they'll flower and self-sow for you. You can grow them from seed. Check any local garden center or Thompson
