What is the best thing to use for a permanent deer fence and how tall should it be? Our garden is about 24 feet by 30 feet.

The usual recommendation is a fence of woven material at least 7' tall. Determined deer can jump an 8' fence, so you may have to put an extension on the fence if it doesn't work. Another way is to put two five foot high fences up, five feet apart. If deer jump the first fence, they won't have enough room to get a running jump to scale the second fence. A final suggestion is to make cages out of chicken wire for individual plants or rows of plants to keep deer from nibbling on the plants.
