[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Westbourne Mining Camp Blues') | Posted on June 12, 2013 ]

A simple flower, and yet I find it lovely in its simplicity. This color really calls to me--listed in AHS database as lavender with blue tones, and it is set off by the chartreuse/green throat. I have had this one only a year, so it needs time to settle in, and then I think it will come into its own.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Westbourne Living High on a Hog') | Posted on June 8, 2013 ]

New in the garden last year, but I didn't get to see it bloom until this year. So far, I am very pleased with the color and shape, also good petal substance.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Inky Fingers') | Posted on June 4, 2013 ]

Planted two months ago and already blooming. This plant has five scapes, so there should be a good bloom time for a brand new plant. The color of the flower is darker than my photo shows.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Enchanting Esmerelda') | Posted on June 4, 2013 ]

Planted last year, but did not bloom, so the first bloom was eagerly awaited and did not disappoint. This is a wonderful color, the bloom really shows up.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Star Child') | Posted on May 31, 2013 ]

Brand new in our garden this year--sent to us by a friend in NY State because it wasn't doing well there. It is blooming on a 6" scape, but since it is new, I have hopes that in time it will achieve the 26" scape listed by AHS. This is really such a lovely flower. I do hope it will take hold here and be a star of the garden.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Blue Ribbon Roundup') | Posted on May 27, 2013 ]

This was sent as a bonus plant and I took some time to warm up to it, but now I think it's a keeper.

[ Blue Anise Sage (Salvia coerulea) | Posted on May 23, 2013 ]

This plant conforms to the description in Joy's comments. I have always called this Salvia guaranitica. It is my favorite perennial, dying to the ground in winter and then returning in spring. For us in our climate, it seems to do best with partial shade and it loves water. This has wonderful color and the scented fragrance keeps the deer away. It is the hummingbirds' first choice here as a food source.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns') | Posted on May 23, 2013 ]

Always a reliable bloomer and for a very long time. In a good year, this plant will be blooming here in November.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'In My Pink High Heels') | Posted on May 23, 2013 ]

Brand new this year and this is the first bloom. So far, I am very pleased, but it always takes time to know how a new garden plant will perform.

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Joyce Terry') | Posted on April 22, 2013 ]

One more of the few hybrid irises that I can recognize growing here. We have had it a long time, but it didn't do well with the move to NE Texas, so was tossed and now has come back on its own--amazing!!

[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Gypsy Belle') | Posted on April 22, 2013 ]

One of the few hybrid Irises growing here, and I only know it for sure because it is so distinctive. I think the colors are just amazing. This iris was purchased from Schreiner's sometime in the mid 90's, and it was moved here in 1999. Most of the irises did not do well, so we moved them to the west fence line and forgot about them until this year when they started blooming. They are growing in two different areas and doing just fine, a wonderful and beautiful flower.

[ Creeping Phlox (Phlox subulata 'Red Wing') | Posted on March 23, 2013 ]

Always look forward to seeing this plant bloom in spring. It is such a vibrant color.

[ Canna Tropicanna® | Posted on March 8, 2013 ]

Tropicanna canna has such beautiful foliage, which really shows when the sun hits it.

[ Japanese Climbing Fern (Lygodium japonicum) | Posted on March 6, 2013 ]

This is a very interesting plant. It has two different types of leaves. In our garden, it is mostly in shade until late afternoon. It will die to the ground in winter and return in spring.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Westbourne Good Old Days') | Posted on March 6, 2013 ]

I have not seen this plant bloom, photo taken by husband. Looking forward to seeing it for the first time this year.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Orange Velvet') | Posted on March 6, 2013 ]

A very lovely orange color.

[ Dwarf Nandina (Nandina domestica 'Fire Power') | Posted on March 4, 2013 ]

My photo was taken on the south side of our house, so the color really comes out. The Fire Power nandinas planted on the north side of the house do not turn this red.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Duchesse de Brabant') | Posted on October 23, 2012 ]

A wonderful tea rose with a fragrance that has been described as "raspberry sherbet."

[ Rose (Rosa 'Souvenir de la Malmaison') | Posted on October 21, 2012 ]

This is a 1 year old cutting just planted in this location this year, and it seems to be doing very well

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Black Eyed Stella') | Posted on September 25, 2012 ]

Excellent small flowered bloomer and rebloomer.
