Fades to white in the slightest heat, very virus prone

[ Lily (Lilium 'Superior') | Posted on January 15, 2017 ]

This hybrid was never sold. It was sent to Hyde in England along with many more of my hybrids. They chose not to propagate any of my lilies. Now all of my lilies are extinct.

This was the only one of my lilies I ever named at first sight. I saw it out in the field the day it first opened, hundreds of feet away, and thought to myself, "I have to get down there and look at that. It is just stunning." And it was and is.

LA HYBRID

[ Lily (Lilium 'Henry's Surprise') | Posted on January 1, 2017 ]

Said to be a cross of an Asiatic with L. henryi, certainly looks like it.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Gran Paradiso') | Posted on January 1, 2017 ]

The real, or original Gran Paradiso has orange-red blooms with a distinctive set of bud "caps" over the tepals which are dropped when the blooms open, as seen in my old picture. I doubt there are any of the original ones on the market anymore. That characteristic was easily inherited and virtually all the seedlings I ever got from it as either parent had those bud caps.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Bonne Homme') | Posted on December 31, 2016 ]

This was a short lily, 2-3 ft tall.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Bessie') | Posted on December 31, 2016 ]

A Woodriff/Strahm hybrid with huge red and white blooms, 3-4 ft tall.

Sibling of Stunning

[ Lily (Lilium 'Bethany') | Posted on December 18, 2016 ]

Bethany was a grex, a seedling strain from Dimensions that were all very similar.
