[ Clary Sage (Salvia viridis 'Marble Arch Blue') | Posted on November 24, 2015 ]

Seeds can likely be winter sown in warmer climates, as they do self-sow lightly here in growing zone 5. Perhaps lightly because seeds aren't 100% winter hardy here? Seeds prefer light for germination, so surface sowing is best by gently pressing seeds into soil/mix. Seeds generally germinate when temperatures are 68-70°F or above.

The only difference I can see in the Salvia 'Marble Arch' series and Salvia 'Clary' series, is plant height. To me, the flowering bracts look the same.

[ Arilbred Iris (Iris 'Aztec Prince') | Posted on December 11, 2014 ]

I really liked the looks of the Arilbred Irises when I saw them (the signals especially), and I talked Rick from Superstition Iris Gardens into selling me some, on the condition that I knew what I was doing. It is said that Arilbreds do not grow well in this part of the country. Thanks to him, Aztec Prince grew the best, and it is my favorite of the ones that I chose to try.

[ Mountain Fleece (Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Rosea') | Posted on November 19, 2014 ]

I was very pleased this year (2014) that, because we had so much rainfall, both my Persicaria 'Rosea' and 'Firetail' rebloomed again in fall after being cut back.
