[ Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Easter Wonder') | Posted on September 18, 2015 ]

Note: This iris plant has standards that can look a little different every year. So don't think that another plant has shown up in your iris bed. Smiling I have seen this one sometimes have dark tan/ almost a tan/brown in cooler climates (as well as light tan, and almost a tan/pink like the 2 photos I've posted, too). I do think it has to do with how the angle of the sun shows through the standards when looking at this iris too, along with the weather and different types of soil composition. One thing's for sure...it always will look lovely!

This is the only iris I've ever grown and introduced that has had the capability of having each and every terminal bud bloom with what I call the 4-4-4 factor. (if the soil and possibly weather conditions are right) This 4-4-4 pattern is on the whole bloom.......ALL standards and ALL falls that have these equally balanced 4 petals. Not just the standards or falls.

Note the peppered spots on its shoulders. Growth habits are great.

Great grower and increaser. The richer the soil, the deeper the colors on this one. Good substance on bloom! Often has 3 blooms opened at once.

May be extinct? The year it was introduced there was a fire nearby in the area where it was growing. A plane spraying some type of chemicals to put out the fire happened to have an over-spray that killed the remaining plants. So, if it's not extinct, please let me know. thank you.

Nice orange red beards. Stunning as a clump. May be hard to find?

This was introduced through Nola's Iris garden, as many of my Introductions were.

Good grower, blooms early in Arizona.

This iris is a pewter-blue, lavender looking at times depending on the soil. Its stalk is 35 " tall. The white falls are peppered with light pewter-blue lavender spots, and way more heavily toward the edges (the edges are nearly solid). Style arms are a mustard gold, and so is the beard. with the exception that the hairs beneath the gold beard are the same color as the iris, including the tip of the beard.

Great grower and increaser. Strong healthy plant.

Blue Coyote, taken in partial shade. More sun may cause lighter color. 2012 Introduction

[ Border Bearded Iris (Iris 'Same Dream Twice') | Posted on September 16, 2015 ]

This border bearded luminata iris is a vigorous rebloomer. And it has impeccable form, good branching, and growth habits. Need I say more? :-)
