[ Weeping Willow (Salix babylonica) | Posted on August 25, 2014 ]

Salix comes from old English, and means near water!

[ Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) | Posted on February 17, 2014 ]

An essential culinary herb. Used in egg dishes and with potatoes and salads. Used extensively in Europe for its mild onion flavour. It also dries exceptionally well, with little loss of flavour, for culinary use! Very easy to grow, but must be used and cut a lot for thick, luscious, full-flavoured growth.

[ Silver Birch (Betula pendula) | Posted on May 3, 2013 ]

This tree is planted everywhere!

[ European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) | Posted on May 3, 2013 ]

Although Ash die-back is now killing many of these wonderful trees, the one in my photo is healthy.
If you see green like this, it normally means it is north facing, and lichen and moss are an indicator species!

[ Whitebeam (Aria edulis) | Posted on May 3, 2013 ]

A street tree!

[ Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) | Posted on May 3, 2013 ]

Makes good coffee and salad leaves!

[ Robertsoniana Saxifraga (Saxifraga x urbium) | Posted on May 3, 2013 ]

Famous, for this plant grew in the bomb sites of London during world war 2. There are even songs about it, as it showed mass resilience to shade and dry conditions, and to the bombing.
Wonderful plant and fantastic ground cover.

[ Blue Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea) | Posted on March 3, 2013 ]

Still with fruit on despite very cold weather.

[ Snakebark Maple (Acer davidii 'Rosalie') | Posted on November 6, 2012 ]

A truly magical maple that is fast growing and ideal for the smaller garden. The maple on the left with the red leaves is Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood.' The snakebark colour of the bark is quite striking in the winter and early spring.
Autumn/fall colours can vary but are lovely!
