[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'God Save the Queen') | Posted on June 16, 2016 ] Of the 30+ daylily varieties I currently own, God Save the Queen is my absolute favorite. The petals are rounded and heavily ruffled, I even see some teeth (which I wasn't expecting in my colder zone and poor, heavy-clay soil). The blooms open nicely - flat and wide consistently. The color combinations and the richness of the purple hue really grab your eye. The only fault in this flower has been a little splotchiness of the coloration, but some of that can be attributed to inconsistent watering up til now. I would highly recommend this daylily to anyone who is looking for a good purple variety! |
[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Eye Catching') | Posted on June 16, 2016 ] Eye Catching certainly draws the eye. The colors are a bold combination. In my garden, the flower form consistently has one petal that points somewhat upward instead of lying flat like the other two petals. I am not sure that I like that, but then again, the uniqueness of the form makes it stand out from the other daylilies around it. |
[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Lurch') | Posted on June 16, 2016 ] Lurch is one of my favorites of the daylilies currently in my garden. I was hesitant about it at first because I am not a huge fan of UF daylilies, but the petals and sepals are wide and it doesn't seem much different from a standard daylily. The blooms are massive and the color is vibrant. The plants are hearty and multiply well. |
