[ Ilex verticillata Berry Heavy® Gold | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Ilex verticillata 'Berry Heavy Gold' is a very impressive winterberry. The berries are larger than most Winterberries I've grown. The color is already yellow in August. This plant is new for me and is only about one foot tall. It's surprising to already see such good production of berries on them. I highly recommend 'Berry Heavy Gold.'

[ Winterberry Holly (Ilex verticillata Berry Heavy®) | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Ilex verticillata 'Berry Heavy' is covered with extra large berries from fall to early March. The berries are devoured by mockingbirds and robins here at that time. This is a nice cultivar that has larger berries and many of them. The color is in between red and orange to me.

[ Ice plant (Delosperma Wheels of Wonder® Fire Wonder) | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Delosperma Wheels of Wonder 'Fire Wonder' blooms from April to frost here. The blooms are extra large for a Delosperma. These look great in hanging baskets or as ground covers for the border. They also grow well with ornamental peppers, especially 'Black Pearl.' I will update about the winter hardiness next spring.

[ Hybrid Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel') | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Hibiscus 'Midnight Marvel' is a great red hardy Hibiscus. It has dark foliage and looks nice even when not in flower. It blooms longer than other red hardy Hibiscus plants. The red flowers last for one day each, but there are many of them daily. I've also noticed that it is more resistant to insects than other hibiscuses I have grown.

[ Hybrid Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus Summerific™ Summer Storm) | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Hibiscus 'Summer Storm' has the darkest foliage of any hardy Hibiscus I've seen. The dark foliage contrasts nicely with the pink flowers. The centers of each flower are red and streak out into the pink. It blooms repeatedly from July to September here. This is probably the best hardy Hibiscus cultivar I have seen so far.

[ Dwarf Perennial Sunflower (Helianthus 'Happy Days') | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Helianthus 'Happy Days' features numerous double yellow flowers on 3-4 foot tall plants. These plants bloom continuously from June through September. It looks great with Rudbeckia 'Little Henry.'

[ Coneflower (Echinacea Sombrero® Flamenco Orange) | Posted on August 28, 2014 ]

Echinacea 'Sombrero Flamenco Orange' is an excellent fragrant orange coneflower. It has excellent basal branching, which should make it more winter hardy than other orange Echinaceas available. It is more hardy and vigorous than 'Tiki Torch,' with many more blooms per plant.

[ Quilled Dwarf Rudbeckia (Rudbeckia 'Little Henry') | Posted on August 23, 2014 ]

Rudbeckia 'Little Henry' is a more compact version of 'Henry Eilers.' This one reaches 3-4 feet tall here, while 'Henry Eilers' gets much larger at about 6-7 feet tall. 'Little Henry' is covered with yellow, quilled flowers from July to September here. It is a very reliable plant. I have seen them mowed down to the ground and still come back to flower the same year. This is one of my favorite perennial plants. It looks great with Helianthus 'Happy Days' because they are a similar color and height with matching bloom times. For contrast, try pairing it with Salvia 'Black and Blue' as well. Every garden should have at least one Rudbeckia 'Little Henry.'

[ Lavender (Lavandula stoechas 'Silver Anouk') | Posted on May 6, 2013 ]

This plant is the best Lavender I have ever grown. The blooms are a larger size and have very interesting color and form.

[ Ice Plant (Delosperma ashtonii 'Blut') | Posted on April 29, 2013 ]

This plant has flowers of an intense color that is very saturated.

[ Delosperma 'Eye Candy' | Posted on April 15, 2013 ]

The color is more pink early in the season. These are great plants that don't spread like other ice plants. They are more compact and tidy.

[ Sedum (Hylotelephium SunSparkler® Lime Zinger) | Posted on April 9, 2013 ]

This sedum has very thick foliage. It almost looks like a Jade plant. Each leaf has a red outline around the perimeter.

[ Dwarf ZZ Plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Zamicro') | Posted on April 8, 2013 ]

Much smaller than the normal ZZ plant. The leaves are smaller too. This is a keeper!

[ Two-Row Stonecrop (Phedimus spurius 'Elizabeth') | Posted on March 9, 2013 ]

Nice red-tinted foliage. Excellent with Sempervivums.

[ Chinese Stonecrop (Sedum tetractinum 'Coral Reef') | Posted on March 9, 2013 ]

Sedum tetractinum 'Coral Reef' is an excellent sedum with a unique color.

[ Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Carmen') | Posted on March 9, 2013 ]

Sempervivum 'Carmen' can form huge rosettes.

[ Sedum (Petrosedum rupestre subsp. rupestre 'Angelina') | Posted on March 7, 2013 ]

Sedum 'Angelina' has rust tones on the tips this time of year. It looks good when a frost is on it. It is equally happy under a Maple Tree or in a container in full sun.

[ Hellebore (Helleborus 'Onyx Odyssey') | Posted on March 5, 2013 ]

This plant has nice dark, double flowers. An added bonus are the darker stems. The flowers are very long lasting.

[ Double Hellebore (Helleborus Winter Jewels™ Peppermint Ice) | Posted on March 5, 2013 ]

Helleborus 'Winter Jewels™ Peppermint Ice' is one of the best double Hellebores with numerous ruffled two-toned flowers over a long period.

[ Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum tectorum 'Noir') | Posted on March 3, 2013 ]

This plant is very dark purple.
