[ Lily (Lilium bolanderi) | Posted on May 31, 2020 ]

The color of L. bolanderi is variable. The RHS Lily Register describes it as being a deep crimson. Less often it can be salmon pink or pale yellow. In his book Lilies: A Guide for Growers and Collectors, Ed McRae describes L. bolanderi as "brick to wine-red". It can be found in the Siskiyou Mountains of northern California and southern Oregon.

This lily was bred by Don Egger. Not registered.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Goldwing') | Posted on February 13, 2018 ]

Registered in KAVB Registry 2011. Mak Breeding. Rights B. V.

[ Lily (Lilium 'White Tiger') | Posted on July 3, 2017 ]

There seems to be more than one lily sold as "White Tiger". It is an old lily (1968) and the Lily Register gives a scant description. Back then the descriptions were minimal to what they are today.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Tigeredition') | Posted on February 5, 2017 ]

The registered name in the RHS Lily register is 'Tigeredition', one word. You will find vendors selling it as 'Tiger Edition', an "Also sold as" name.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Annemarie's Dream') | Posted on January 21, 2017 ]

According to the RHS Lily Register, this lily may not appear in the double form if planted late. No explanation as to what "late" means. I assume if this happens then the following season it should appear double.

Also, this lily may have been sold with the misspelling 'Annamarie's Dream'

[ Double Orienpet Lily (Lilium 'Exotic Sun') | Posted on January 17, 2017 ]

This rare double Orienpet lily is a sport of Belladonna.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Megan') | Posted on January 11, 2017 ]

Asiatic lily 'Megan' was bred by Mak-Leek Inc. Not registered.

[ Musk Maple (Premna microphylla) | Posted on December 27, 2016 ]

The leaves are particularly malodorous when rubbed, hence the common names Stinky Maple and Musk Maple. Premna microphylla is a popular bonsai plant.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Pink Dream') | Posted on November 30, 2016 ]

This is one of those lilies that can be easily confused with some others with its pink-yellow color blend. It is distinguished by a unique dark red stem.

It is not registered but was sold by a reputable company. The RHS Lily register may someday catch up with it. Not to be confused with the registered Pink Dream Group which are a group of similar Oriental lilies.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Starlight Express') | Posted on November 16, 2016 ]

In their 2016 online catalog Van Bourgondien describes 'Starlight Express' and 'Pimento' as being the same lily. They are not, according to the RHS Lily Register.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Deliana') | Posted on August 8, 2016 ]

This lily is registered as a longiflorum cultivar backcrossed to a Longiflorum/Asiatic lily, hence common name Longiflorum/Asiatic lily. It appears that it is often sold as a Longiflorum/Oriental lily (LO lily), probably due to its trumpet form.

Registration is found in the RHS International Lily Register and Checklist 2007.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Peach Angel™') | Posted on June 9, 2016 ]

The first blooms of these upright trumpet lilies may start out more outfacing. Then, as the blooms progress up the raceme, they become more upright. Bred by Piet Weinstra.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Golden Angels™') | Posted on June 8, 2016 ]

From B&D Lilies, these are a group of the best clones selected from their 'Golden Angels' strain of upright trumpet lilies.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Copper Angels™') | Posted on June 8, 2016 ]

A seed-grown strain of upright trumpet lilies bred from the 'Copper King' strain. Some blooms can be more outfacing.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Butterscotch Angel') | Posted on June 8, 2016 ]

Butterscotch Angel trumpet lilies are a selected clonal group from the Golden Angel strain. They are more of a butterscotch color than the more yellow Golden Angel trumpets. All are upfacing trumpet lilies.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Raspberry Ribbons') | Posted on December 7, 2014 ]

B&D Lilies is selling this as 'Raspberry Ribbons' and H. W. Hyde is selling it as 'Jaybird'. The two websites present the same photo. As of this date there is no registration of either name in the International Lily Register or the KAVB. I will be watching for more information about this cultivar in the future. For now 'Jaybird' is added as "Also sold as".

[ Lily (Lilium Tiger Babies) | Posted on December 7, 2014 ]

According to the hybridizer, Tiger Babies is a group of very similar lilies. I have seen these in her growing field and I certainly could not tell one from another!

[ Lily (Lilium 'Summer's End') | Posted on October 6, 2014 ]

Most Oriental lilies do not last long for me. This F1 hybrid strain from hybridizer Judith Freeman comes back year after year in my garden. It lives up to its name by being one of the latest lilies to bloom in my garden.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Flugelhorn Strain') | Posted on July 11, 2014 ]

Sold exclusively by The Lily Garden, their catalog describes them as "...tetraploid trumpet seedlings in a full range of pastel colors: white, cream, gold, butter yellow, baby pink and peony pink." I have found them to be very sturdy with nicely balanced inflorescences.
