[ Dahlia 'Creme de Cassis' | Posted on March 16, 2020 ]

It had more blooms in 2018 than any other dahlia I grew. Height is about 30".

[ Lemon Basil (Ocimum africanum) | Posted on September 2, 2018 ]

Lemon basil grew to over 4' in full sun. It was much too tall for the area where it was planted. Beware of the height when planting in an herb garden.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Royal Sunset') | Posted on July 5, 2018 ]

Multiplies very well. I'm impressed!

[ Stonecrop (Sedum sexangulare 'Golddigger') | Posted on July 23, 2017 ]

Has always been quick to spread in our gardens. Helps keep out the weeds.

[ Ornamental Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas 'Blackie') | Posted on July 23, 2016 ]

Very attractive to deer!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Licorice Candy') | Posted on April 14, 2016 ]

This has just been an average performer for me. How I wish I could say it has expanded enormously, but in nine years it hasn't.

[ Lily (Lilium 'Mapira') | Posted on April 9, 2016 ]

Planted three bulbs in 2014. Now it appears they have multiplied to ten!

[ Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus 'Hill Hardy') | Posted on January 30, 2016 ]

January 31, 2016: I brought the rosemary inside to a sunny kitchen bay window in November 2015 and it's doing the best any rosemary has ever done for me indoors.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Arla') | Posted on December 18, 2015 ]

Arla outdid itself and bloomed through 11/3 in 2015.

[ Dahlia 'White Rabbit' | Posted on December 5, 2015 ]

Very few blooms on this dahlia. From the site where I purchased it, and after seeing the photo of a big plant with many, many blooms, I thought it would be spectacular. Disappointing, but I'll still give it another try in 2016.

[ Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus 'Oiseau Bleu') | Posted on September 18, 2015 ]

This year the lone roaming fawn didn't touch our 'Bluebird', so I'm happy to report that it bloomed beautifully. It's an easy to care for plant and requires nothing special. It gets sun from early morning to about 2 PM. I cut it back hard each spring and it always bounces back great.

[ Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum 'Cherokee Purple') | Posted on August 13, 2015 ]

Flavor was mild, nothing exceptional.

[ Late Panicle Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata Quick FireĀ®) | Posted on August 5, 2015 ]

Burning in the hot sun this summer. Most flowers have turned that ugly brownish color: not nice.

Update: 8/8/2015

I was so mistaken. Upon going out to see how brown it was I found it to be fine, not brown at all. From the window in here, about 40' away, it does look brown but standing next to it I found it to be as normal and pinkish as ever. Maybe, because hydrangea Limelight, is in view at the same time, the contrast is so huge that it looked darker to me.

[ Snap Pea (Lathyrus oleraceus 'Super Sugar Snap') | Posted on July 8, 2015 ]

Excellent peas. Great texture, never disappointing.

[ Japanese Iris (Iris ensata 'Sing the Blues') | Posted on May 7, 2015 ]

After coming too close to losing this JI, I lifted it and planted it (with compost) in a pot, and buried the pot, to avoid root competition from its neighbors. Works very well.

[ Hosta 'Paradise Joyce' | Posted on May 7, 2015 ]

Very tough to divide. We used a variety of knives, a saw, a shovel and a dead blow hammer to drive the shovel deeper, and ended up having to use an axe. My advice would be to plant it where it can stay without division or divide early and often to avoid the tedious work involved.

[ Japanese Iris (Iris ensata 'R. Giskard') | Posted on November 26, 2014 ]

Lovely very tall plant. It's 60" here. I've never had any rebloom on it.

[ Azalea (Rhododendron 'Hilda Niblett') | Posted on October 25, 2014 ]

Easy enough to propagate but it does take a few years to get a worthwhile plant out of it. This is a very slow growing azalea.

[ Clematis (Clematis alpina 'Pink Flamingo') | Posted on October 21, 2014 ]

Died within the first year.

[ Hosta 'Paradise Joyce' | Posted on October 18, 2014 ]

Tolerates full sun without a problem.
