[ Carrot (Daucus carota var. sativus 'Tonda di Parigi') | Posted on March 8, 2014 ]

This little round carrot should be harvested when it is roughly 1 1/2" in diameter. Because of its round shallow root, it is suitable for containers, or beds that have not been tilled very deep.

[ Carrot (Daucus carota var. sativus 'Atlas') | Posted on March 8, 2014 ]

This carrot is meant to be harvested when it is about 1 1/2" round, roughly golf-ball sized. Because of its small round nature, it does well in containers. Just make sure the soil is light and loose.

[ Kale (Brassica oleracea var. viridis 'Winterbor') | Posted on March 8, 2014 ]

Winterbor Kale is one of the most cold hardy of the kales. It has finely curled, thick, blue-green leaves. Frost will make it sweeter tasting, and high temperatures can make the leaves a bit bitter. Outer leaves are best picked when they are 8-10 inches long.
