Likes a shady site, but will tolerate quite a bit of sun. This plant has grown to about 2' tall without the flower spikes. The blooms are insignificant, little red bumps on the stems. I like the striping in the foliage, even though it fades somewhat as the plant gets larger. Mine has reseeded easily, without becoming invasive.

I love my Lance Corporals. I use them for tall ground cover. Their red thin "Spikes" in the fall are beautiful waving in the breeze. Invasive? Can be. Just pluck them out of areas not wanted in early Spring, 1st/2nd week of May and give them to friends.
