A deceptively fluffy cactus, whose fuzzy spines obscure hooks. Easy to get to bloom even at a small size (about an inch or less/>2 ish cm). Likes mostly mineral soil, moderate to full sun. Clumps when potted.
  • Posted by Baja_Costero (Baja California - Zone 11b) on Sep 2, 2019 3:34 PM concerning plant:
Small, spiny, furry, clustering globose cactus with creamy white or pinkish flowers. Central spines are reddish brown, often with a long hooked one. Radial spines are fine and hairlike. Fruit may be red (subspecies bocasana, with 30-50 radials) or pink (the former subspecies eschauzieri, with 20-30 radials). From San Luis Potosí and Zacatecas, Mexico. Often solitary in habitat.
