Many people call these ground orchids because they can, within their hardiness zones, be planted directly into the ground. They require little care and do not like to be too wet. They will take down to 20 degrees without damage. They grow best in sun with some shade during the hottest part of the day. When the stems with roots get heavy from flowers, the stem roots will come in contact with the soil and the plant will "travel". They bloom all year except in the hottest months. Do not plant them in heavy, rich soils. They like the sand of Florida.
