    Felty, fuzzy, somewhat flimsy leaves.

I found a good number of this silver-leaved variety of the Buttonwood planted around in the landscapes of the Fort Lauderdale area being used as a small ornamental tree or a low-branching shrub or a sheared shrub hedge just several feet high. The species is native to southern Florida and the West Indies growing along the edges of tidal watercourses and near the mangrove zones; and is able to grow in dry sandy soils as well as draining wet soils, even brackish wet soils.
