Hanging rope-like succulent from Madagascar with small Fockea-ish flowers in the fall. This plant is relatively uncommon in succulent collections, though it grows well from cuttings. Single-stemmed plants can be turned into bushier clumps by regularly cutting stem tips and poking them in the soil to root. The stems are narrow but viewed close up have an interesting uneven texture with tiny white bumps and short hairs. They release white sap when cut. Be prepared for them to succumb to the effects of gravity once they are long enough to poke over the side of the pot. This genus, whose name means "dog choker", is in the Apocynaceae. Provide strong light and excellent drainage.
