Widespread and variable spotted aloe with multibranched, often rebranched inflorescences. Found in a wide range across southern Africa. Flowers are red or coral red. Common in cultivation; other plants are also frequently misidentified as zebrina. It is easiest to identify based on the inflorescence. Its racemes are tall, cylindrical and laxly flowered, not capitate or densely flowered. Its leaves are different from those of another common spotted aloe, A. maculata, having lots of spots on both the top and bottom surfaces, instead of mostly/only the top surface.
