Suhyo cukes are one of my favorites for fresh eating with a crisp texture and sweet taste. They can grow up to 18" long or more and tend to curl up on the ground, but are straighter when grown on a trellis. They have a bristly skin that some like to remove before eating, but the bristles rub off easily. Although I usually only get 2 or 3 from one plant, they produce as much fruit as my other favorites (Diva and Burpless) because of their size, and their shape makes for interesting conversations.

I grew this Asian cucumber both last year and this year. The fruits are rather prickly looking and not the prettiest but the cucumbers are very tasty. Trellis for straighter fruit. Will have it growing again next year.

Also known as Suyo Long. Spiny skin that some people may like to pare before eating, or just rub with water to remove spines. I harvest them at 10-15" long. They tend to curl but are straighter when grown on a trellis or string. Quite tasty and an interesting variation on standard cucumber shapes.
