This blue-green or gray-green Mammillaria has wide heads that may branch dichotomously. About 4 (2-6) central spines may be short or long, are light brown or yellowish brown in color, and point away from the plant. The lower central spine is much longer. Much more numerous radial spines are whitish or yellowish and bristly, covering up much of the body of the plant. Flowers are pink to red and fruit is red. This plant is from north-central Mexico, specifically the states of Querétaro, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosí. It is not uncommon in cultivation and slow growing, but very impressive once it has branched a few times. Up to 1 foot or more wide. Flowers may appear at different times of year.
