High focal impact. Darwins are considered to be the tulips most likely to return for several years (more perennially prone). To maximize their tendency to return, it's advisable to plant them deep. I usually go down a good 8" and have had good return. It also helps to plant them where they'll remain relatively dry over the summer months. Big bloom.

As soon as I saw pics of this stunningly beautiful tulip, it was one of the first ones I ordered last fall! It's a "must have" tulip! Banja Luka's colors are breathtaking and colorful. It will be attracting attention from everyone around me. I planted 80 of them in my back yard. The flowerbed they're in is close enough to the kitchen window that I'll be able to see them all the time when they're blooming. I can't wait to see them blooming their "little heads" off this spring! I know I'll be taking lots of pics and drooling over them!

dnrevel On December 26, 2023 Potted up
Potted up, stored in greenhouse until January 4 then moved to the garage for cold winter storage.
dnrevel On September 20, 2023 Obtained plant
Obtained a new dual pack including Banja Luka. Will plant in pots and grow as I did last year, kept in the garage, protected from freezing. Using a Govee to monitor temps. Dahlias also will be stored in the garage this year.
dnrevel On January 13, 2023 Entered Dormancy
I don't recall if I replanted this variety in my winter pots, but that said, I'll report how well this bulb did as listed above in a photo I posted:

I'm in my second year growing bulbs in pots for movable color. The pot that did the best in my first year doing this was stored in my garage, Darwin Tulip (Tulipa 'Banja Luka'). The others were in a tepee tent outdoors, or covered by mulch, and how they did? Not so great.

This year I have 5-6 pots in the garage, and we'll see what spring brings in 6a SE Michigan. It's been a warm winter without much snow so far, but with cold snaps befitting what USED to be a Michigan winter.
dnrevel On May 9, 2022 Bloomed
Gorgeous and flamboyant blooms. Did well in large plastic pot overwintered in garage.
dnrevel On February 2, 2022 Plant emerged
Sprouting in February in garage. SE Michigan, 6a.
dnrevel On February 2, 2022 Potted up
Multiple bulbs in pot. See photo. Took outside in March to green up. Keeping it sheltered when it goes below 20 degrees. I think the irises and hyacinths are emerging first.
dnrevel On November 30, 2021 Seeds sown
Planted in layers in pots and stored in garage.
