Sioux trees have a rapid growth rate and are leafy, robust, and structurally strong. In Georgia trials, Sioux averages 75 nuts per pound and averages 57% kernel. It must be noted that the kernels Sioux produces are of superior quality, with nearly all of them falling into the "fancy" category, which is amazing. This is the primary reason Sioux is recommended for the southeast. Sioux bears in alternate years, but even in the years with heavy bearing, Sioux kernels still retain thelr excellent quality. Sioux has proved to produce prolifically. Sioux nuts are small. Sioux is scab susceptible and requires a full season fungicide spray schedule . It should not be planted in high disease pressure situations. Sioux should be considered when a very high quality kernel is desired.
In Texas, Sioux is recommended for yard plantings. It is reported as averaging 62 nuts per pound and 59% kernel.
