I have had these for several years, they will survive in pots in a cold greenhouse in the UK. They make several small bulbs at the ends of fine roots sent out from the corms, usually ending up around the bottom of the pot. I planted some in the ground in a dryish location where they get some sun. They grow and have occasionally made a flower, they survived the very harsh winter 2010/11 in the UK. I had a few survive in pots left outside with constant temperatures below freezing for 7 weeks!
While they are happy I am happy to leave them to do their own thing, sometimes it is more of a pleasure to see a rare flower than to have masses of them. I found they flower best when I have missed a small corm when repotting and recycled the compost, where one grows up the side of a pot and flowers. It seems they like a lot of sun and warmth to flower.
