One of the more painful of the hitchhiking plants. In the fall, clusters of two-pronged needle-like seeds stick to anything that walks by, and they are sharp. Painful to both animals and people. Grows wild in fields and in borders between woodland and fields. It hosts the larva of several butterflies and moths and is valued by folks who like this feature.
