Salvia greggii 'Black Cherry' was introduced by David Salman of High Country Gardens (Santa Fe, NM). It is a hybrid cold-hardy Texas bush sage and is native to the United States.

I have been growing Black Cherry and I love it! Love the color and love that it is hardy to zone 6, since most of the greggii Salvias are only hardy to zone 7. It is long blooming, low maintenance, beautiful, and attracts hummingbirds.

I tend to love the color of it more than another David Salman introduction, Raspberry Delight, which is another beauty.

It is also rabbit and deer resistant, which is good for me because we have a lot of wild rabbits in the yard.
