    Soft, silky haired biennial.

    Needs well draining soil, drought tolerant once established.

    Cut bloom spike to the ground once it is finished. Protect from snails and slugs.

    This is not a short-lived perennial. I had one for a number of years and the original plants are still going strong and will remain most of the winter even in colder climates.

    Seeds are easy to collect. Cut the dead stalks and put them in a paper bag, shake the seed loose. The seed pods and flower stems have little stickers on them so take care about those.

    You can winter sow this plant by just barely covering the seeds and germination is usually very successful.
