Contrary to my earlier observation about blooms opening pale pink

The blooms are more of a straight pale pink when the buds first open, but a striking darker pink "star" soon develops. Much more interesting (IMO) than the ubiquitous 'Pink Pearl'. Ordered just a few to try, and after seeing the blooms ordered 50 more last fall. :-)

I planted 10 'Fondant' bulbs last fall for the first time, not knowing just how gorgeous the flowers would be. I loved the pink color! This spring they all came up and I was in awe looking at them. I couldn't get enough of those flowers and kept staring at their beauty. I planted them in the flowerbed in front of our front porch, so I could see them all the time. The fragrance was wonderful. I kept meaning to take some pics while they were in bloom, but sadly I never got around to it. I pulled them all out of the ground as soon as they were finished blooming because they weren't going to be the full blooming plants the following spring.

Hyacinth are not generally very long-lived bulbs. They will return reliably the first few years, and then the blooms will become less dense, with fewer flowerettes per stalk.

These are extremely fragrant. A single stem in a vase can scent a large room. Very sweet scent.
